BUSINESS QUESTION – POST OFFICE IN THE MEMBERS' LOBBY - 17 May 2018

Dr Julian Lewis: Will the Leader of the House join me in paying tribute to the outstanding service offered to Members by the counter staff of the post office in the Members' Lobby? Does she share my concern that it is impending that this service will be withdrawn, and should not Members be consulted more widely before that happens?

[The Leader of the House of Commons (Andrea Leadsom): My right hon. Friend has raised this issue with me directly. I have written to the Chairman of the Administration Committee, my hon. Friend the Member for Mole Valley (Sir Paul Beresford), who has written back to him informing him of the decision that was taken by the Committee to change the opening hours. I absolutely agree about our great gratitude to the staff of the post office counter. I have put my right hon. Friend in contact with the Chairman of the Administration Committee, and I have urged the House authorities to make every effort to consult all Members, particularly through the regular House updates, so that they all have the opportunity to have input into any changes to important services in this place.]
