BUSINESS QUESTION – TRIDENT REPLACEMENT - 18 November 2010

Dr Julian Lewis: Given the decision to jeopardise the future of the nuclear deterrent by putting off the main gate contract decisions until the other side of the general election, may we have a debate in Government time, and with a vote, so that hon. Members from the Conservative and Labour parties can register publicly their support for the next generation of the Trident deterrent, in what might be called a coalition for Trident replacement?

[The Leader of the House of Commons (Sir George Young): I understand my hon. Friend's concern, but I have to say that the Government did provide time for a debate on the strategic defence and security review, which took place at the end of last month, and we have no plans to revisit the issue in the near future.]
