FOREIGN AFFAIRS – EU REFERENDUM – 13 January 2014
[Jacob Rees-Mogg: ... I am scattering my papers – this is how European documents should be treated: tossed in pieces around and about ... ]
Dr Julian Lewis: To give my hon. Friend a moment to relocate his script, may I ask him whether we are perhaps in danger of being unfair to the Government? Could not the reason why our Government are so keen to suggest that we sign up to this nonsense, garbage and propaganda be that they want to impress on the House and the British people how important it is to have an in/out referendum on our membership of the European Union?
[Mr Rees-Mogg: My hon. Friend makes a wonderfully ingenious point. I am not sure that a coalition Government could be quite that clever, though that may be uncharitable.]
