Dr Julian Lewis: Do the Government accept something that I had difficulty getting their predecessor to accept – that Huawei should not be regarded as a private company because it is intimately linked with the Chinese communist state and its deeply hostile intelligence agencies? If they do accept that, as they should, are they confident that the safeguards that will be put in place will be sufficient to guard us against a deeply hostile intelligence agency, such as he implied in his statement we needed to do in relation to Russia ?

Friend with precisely the reassurance that he asks for.]
