FOREIGN AFFAIRS – IRAN'S NUCLEAR PROGRAMME - 25 November 2014

Dr Julian Lewis: It is often said that, because of the mutual hatred between Iran and Saudi Arabia, if Iran got nuclear weapons, Saudi Arabia would follow suit. How realistic is that danger?

[The Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs (Mr Philip Hammond):  I am not in a position to comment on how Saudi Arabia might react to any hypothetical situation. Our focus is on ensuring that Iran does not acquire nuclear weapons and does not acquire the capability to build them in future.]
